Mokena is a village in Illinois, made up of more than 20,000 people. The name Mokena comes from a Native American language, meaning “mud turtle.” The Metra rail service Rock Island District runs through the village, giving easy access to public transportation. Mokena is about 35 miles southwest of Chicago.
Mokena was once largely known for its farming and, to this day, still has a small town feel. It offers plenty of things to do for the local residents such as the Lincoln-Way Soccer Club, Oaks Disc Golf Course, and the Mokena Community Public Library.
